Phnom Penh
- We stayed at the Patio Hotel which was a nice boutique hotel, in a good location in Phnom Penh
- Very little vehicles, lots of scooters, but, did notice a number of Ford and Chevy SUV’s
- Visited the S21 prison, which was one out of 196 prisons that imprisoned 18-20K men, women and children in each prison. These people were torched and killed by the Khmer Rouge in the millions in over 388 killing fields across the country. One of the worst genocides in history!
- S21 was the radio frequency to contact command.
- For the past 40 years Cambodia has been ruled by one party.
Siem Reap
- Stayed at Somadevi Hotel in Ankor. Ok pool, cheap Scotch, hard bed. The restaurant was only good for breakfast.
- US dollars can be used on Cambodia
- Visited Angkor Wat: World’s largest religious monument. Back in the 12th century over 1 million people lived there, 295 temples, architectural masterpiece,
on 500+acres - Ta Prohm was also an impressive temple, featured in tomb raider, and strangled by massive root system of silk-cotton and banyan trees.
- Visited Tonle Sap Lake, one of the largest lakes in Southeast Asia. Varied of eco systems. UNESCO site and supplies the Mekong River.
